“Pet Sematary” is Getting a Reboot: Here’s What We Know So Far

Amy Seimetz and Lucas Lavoie in "Pet Sematary"

Stephen King reboots are nerve-wracking for many reasons. For starters, King’s novels are about as spine chilling as they come and the stories he tells promise sleepless nights to come. A reboot means a horrifying tale with better graphics, new actors and a fresh new take on a tale that’s already mentally scarred us.

Secondly, they are nerve-wracking because we are pretty protective over the originals. If anyone dared touch Stanley Kubrick’s interpretation of The Shining there would be uproar but the glossy, blockbuster reboot of IT went down a treat.

Now, the horribly sinister Pet Sematary is getting and it is out sooner than you think. Here’s what we know so far.

Release Date

Luckily, you won’t be waiting long. The reboot will hit cinemas April 5.

The Cast

There aren’t any huge names in the cast but Amy Seimetz from Stranger Things will have a starring role alongside the likes of Jason Clarke, and Louis Creed. The children will be played by Hugo Lavoie and John Lithgow.

The Plot

The Creed Family movie to a small town and shortly after, their beloved pet cat is killed on the road. They bury the cat beyond a pet sematary and Church is resurrected. A few months later, the eigh-year-old daughter, Ellie, is killed in a road accident too. Her father buries her in the same place hoping she will become resurrected. The trouble is, not everything resurrected comes back quite right.
