Noah Hawley to Write & Direct “Star Trek” Film

Zachary Quinto and Karl Urban in "Star Trek Beyond"

Multiple outlets confirm that Noah Hawley is set to write and direct the next Star Trek film.

Hawley, who made his feature directing debut this year with Lucy in the Sky starring Natalie Portman, will also produce through his 26 Keys production banner along with JJ Abrams and his Bad Robot banner.

According to Entertainment Tonight, the film will apparently not continue the storyline in Abrams’ Star Trek Beyond (2016). It’s also unknown if the Enterprise crew — Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Zoe Saldana, Simon Pegg, and Karl Urban will return to star in the forthcoming iteration of the Trek franchise.

Paramount’s most recent Trek film was Star Trek Beyond directed by Fast & Furious 6 helmer Justin Lin.
