NBC has renewed the medical drama for an additional three seasons.
The massive three-season renewal comes as New Amsterdam is airing its sophomore season. This means that the show will run on the network through the 2022-23 season.
New Amsterdam is the third NBC show to score an early renewal, joining This Is Us and Brooklyn Nine-Nine. This Is Us also scored a multiple-season renewal, with the network picking it up last summer also for three additional seasons.
New Amsterdam is based on the book Twelve Patients: Life and Death at Bellevue Hospital by Eric Manheimer and stars Eggold, Janet Montgomery, Freema Agyeman, Jocko Sims, with Tyler Labine and Anupam Kher.
