Yahya Abdul-Mateen II has been cast in the planned fourth installment of the Matrix

The Aquaman star, the actor behind Black Manta in the DC superhero hit, is set to star in one of the lead roles in the planned Matrix 4

Warner Bros. announced that a fourth Matrix movie is officially in the works in August, with stars Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss set to reprise their roles in the film.

Lana Wachowski, original Matrix films creator, will write, direct, and produce the film. Aleksandar Hemon and David Mitchell will co-write the script with Wachowski.

“Many of the ideas Lilly [Wachowski] and I explored 20 years ago about our reality are even more relevant now,” the director said in a previous statement. “I’m very happy to have these characters back in my life and grateful for another chance to work with my brilliant friends.”

Production is slated to begin at the beginning of 2020.
