It’s another movie turned musical, turned movie again.
Matilda is getting adapted for the screen again, this time as a feature film version of the hit musical.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, which was first to report the news, Sony Pictures and Netflix are partnering on a film adaptation that will get a full theatrical release before premiering on the steamer.
Matilda was first adapted into a movie in 1996. It starred Mara Wilson as the titular heroine, alongside Danny DeVito, Pam Ferris, and Embeth Davidtz.
Per the outlet, the film adaptation will be helmed by Matthew Warchus. Dennis Kelly will write the screenplay.
