Marvel’s “Black Widow” Casts O. T. Fagbenle

Marvel’s Black Widow has just added another name to its cast. 

Multiple outlets confirm that British actor O. T. Fagbenle has been tapped to star in a lead role opposite Scarlett Johansson in Marvel’s forthcoming standalone superhero feature.

Fagbenle joins previously announced David Harbour (Stranger Things), Florence Pugh (Fighting With My Family), and Rachel Weisz. 

While plot details are being under wraps, but it is known that the film will center on the origin story of Johansson’s KGB spy assassin turned SHIELD agent and an Avenger, Natasha Romanoff aka Black Widow.

Australian filmmaker Cate Shortland is directing from a rewrite of Jac Schaeffer’s original script penned by Ned Benson.

Fagbenle currently stars as Luke, husband of Elisabeth Moss’ June Osborne on Hulu’s The Handmaid’s Tale. His other credits include BBC’s The Interceptor, HBO’s Looking and The Five currently streaming on Netflix. 

Production will reportedly start June in London.
