Kirby Howell-Baptiste Joins “Cruella”

The breakout star has just landed her next big project. 

British actress Kirby Howell-Baptiste star of Hulu’s Veronica Mars revival, CBS All Access’ Why Women Kill, BBC America’s Killing Eve, and HBO’s Barry has joined the cast of Disney’s Cruella. 

Howell-Baptiste will star alongside Emma Stone who plays the titular villain. Also starring in the film are Paul Walter Hauser and Joel Fry. 

The live-action origin movie is directed by I, Tonya director Craig Gillespie from a script penned by Tony McNamara.

The studio remains tight-lipped on details, so no word on Howell-Baptiste’s character or the film’s plot. It is known, however, that the origin story for the 101 Dalmatians infamous puppy nemesis is set in 1970s London and has a “punk rock” vibe.
