“Hustlers” Might be Adapted For the Stage

Jennifer Lopez and Constance Wu in "Hustlers"

The Hustlers director is eyeing Broadway.

Lorene Scafaria revealed Sunday night on the Golden Globes red carpet that she’s already working on a stage adaptation for her hit crime drama.

The film starred Jennifer Lopez, Constance Wu, Cardi B, Lizzo, Keke Palmer, Lili Reinhart as a tight-knit clan of strip club employees who scam money from their rich Wall Street clients amid the 2008 financial crisis.

“We’re just starting,” Scafaria told Variety. “I said it to them a few months ago that I thought it would be a good idea, that’s all. Who knows. I’m trying to develop it for the stage!”

Back in December Lopez told Extra, “It really lends itself to a Broadway show, and to a live-performance show. I don’t know that I would do it. I would produce it, for sure. I don’t know. Maybe. You never know with me.”

Hustlers earned more than $157 million in global ticket sales.
