If you are one of the billion people stuck in lockdown this week, you are probably in the same boat as the rest of us. That boat is the one that initially made the most out of an abundance of free time to indulge in some of the great TV shows and movies on Netflix. Unfortunately, even watching TV can get lonely sometimes and with loneliness, comes boredom. Hence why people from all around the world are finding ways to watch TV with their friends without having to leave their homes.
One of the most popular ways to enjoy TV with friends is Netflix Party. This is a Chrome extension that allows you to easily sync up whatever you are watching with your friends. All you have to do is send them a link and you are good to go. Part of the synchronization means that if you pause the movie you are watching, it will pause on your friends’ screens too. One of the features we love about Netflix Party is the addition of a chatbox. This means you can chat about what you are watching with your friends in synchronization with playback. This is particularly necessary if you are tuning in to watch Tiger King.

This means you can actually chat with your friends as if you are in the same room. Of course, this isn’t an excuse to chatter through the whole movie. If you want to really step into the future, Plex VR allows you to share a virtual apartment with your friends where you can hang out and watch your favorite series together. Better still, everyone has their own avatar so it is almost as if they are actually there. Except not really.
At the end of the day, it doesn’t matter which method you choose. What matters is staying connected at a time where it is too easy to disappear into your room and binge-watch Netflix all day. If you’re going to do that, at least get your mates involved.
