Just days before bringing House of the Dragon back for its second season, HBO shared some amazing news with the fans. Rivaling factions of House Targaryen will continue their war of succession for another year after the hit epic fantasy series received a Season 3 renewal.
HBO’s head of drama Francesca Orsi confirmed the renewal of the Game of Thrones spin-off and praised its co-creators George R.R. Martin and Ryan Condal for making it a success.
“George, Ryan, and the rest of our incredible executive producers, cast, and crew, have reached new heights with the phenomenal second season of House of the Dragon. We are in awe of the dragon-sized effort the entire team has put into the creation of a spectacular season two,” said Orsi in a statement.
House of the Dragon takes us back to King’s Landing almost two centuries before the events of Game of Thrones. It chronicles the downfall of one of the Seven Kingdom’s most powerful families, House Targaryen, which kicks off with the Dance of the Dragons, the harrowing war of succession that led to their demise.
HBO renewed House of the Dragon just days before its second season was released on June 16. It will feature a total of eight episodes, airing weekly on HBO and streaming on Max.
