Hamilton is coming to a theater near you after Disney purchased the worldwide movie rights for Lin-Manuel Miranda’s acclaimed Broadway show.

Miranda took to Twitter Monday to announce that Hamilton is heading to cinemas featuring the acclaimed original cast. The movie release has been set for a 2021 fall release.

And a Hamilton film featuring the original cast was just the opportunity Miranda was looking for. “What I’m most excited about [is] you all have that friend that is like, ‘I saw it with the original cast.’ We’re stealing that brag from everyone because you’re all going to see it with the original cast,” he told Variety at this year’s Sundance Film Festival. “We’re just trying to find the right time to do it.”

The process of turning the stage to a film consisted of shooting three live performances, as well as some set-up shots without an audience, all of which was used to create multiple angles to ensure a full cinematic experience.

Hamilton will hit theaters October 15, 2021.
