Haley Bennett is in negotiations to join Hillbilly Elegy.

Bennett, star of The Girl on the Train, is in early talks to join the pic.

Ron Howard will be helming the adaptation for Netflix from a script by The Shape of Water’s Vanessa Taylor. The streaming giant boarded the project after it won the property in a bidding war. It will finance the feature based on JD Vance’s bestselling memoir for $45 million.

Should she join, she will star opposite previously announced Amy Adams and Glenn Close. Bennett’s role has not been announced. Gabriel Basso is also abroad the project.

The story is modern exploration of the American dream and follows three generations of an Appalachian family as told by its youngest member, a Yale law student forced to return to his hometown.

Howard will also serve as producer alongside Brian Grazer and Karen Lunder for Imagine Entertainment. Julie Oh and Vance will executive produce.
