A Hercules live-action remake is officially in the works from Disney.

The studio is in the early development of a live-action remake of its 1997 animated musical movie of the Hercules legend.

While not much is known of the project, The Hollywood Reporter confirms that the studio has tapped Dave Callaham, the Expendables franchise scribe, as well as Marvel’s upcoming Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings writer to pen the script. Joe and Anthony Russo Avengers: Endgame and Infinity War filmmakers are set to produce via their AGBO banner.

It is unknown whether the remake will follow the studio’s approach to the new The Lion King, which followed the 1994 original almost frame for frame, or the Mulan remake (set for release July 24), which is a looser re-imagination of the 1998 original.
