Disney recently decided to reinstate James Gunn as the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 director in a move that was met with overwhelming enthusiasm from the fans Marvel superhero features. They were not the only one thrilled with the studio’s move, as the cast of the movie also expressed their excitement with the news.

During his appearance at the premiere of Avengers: Endgame, Chris Pratt, who portrays Star-Lord in Marvel Cinematic Universe, was asked to comment Disney’s decision to rehire Gunn and said that he thinks this was “the right move” and that he was “proud” of the studio.

“I was so thrilled, so excited,” Pratt responded. “I think it’s the right move, I really stand behind it. I’m really proud of Disney for hiring James back and ultimately thrilled for not only us but also for the fans. I think it’s going to wrap up the trilogy in the best way.”

Disney decided to fire James Gunn, who directed the first two Guardians of the Galaxy movies, in July 2018 after decade-old tweets with offensive jokes written by the 52-year-old director surfaced online. Gunn’s firing didn’t sit well with Guardians of the Galaxy cast, who released a joint statement supporting him and the decision was also criticized by a significant number of industry’s members and media outlets.

The studio ended up having a change of hearts and rehired Gunn as Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. director in March. The movie is still to enter production and could be expected in theaters at some point in 2021.
