Ryan Muphy used the Pose panel at the PaleyFest to make some important announcements about his upcoming first series on Netflix.

First, Murphy confirmed that the dark comedy has added to its cast. Bette Midler and Judith Light join previously cast Ben Platt, Gwyneth Paltrow, Jessica Lange, Zoey Deutch, Lucy Boynton, Bob Balaban, David Corenswet, Julia Schlaepfer, Laura Dreyfuss, Theo Germaine, Rahne Jones and Benjamin Barrett.

He also confirmed that Pose writer and helmer, Janet Mock, will direct an episode.

“That’s my diva update,” he said as a concluding remark for his announcements.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the series follows a wealthy student (Platt), who has known since age 7 that he’s going to be the president of the United States. But first, he’ll have to navigate the treacherous political landscape of high school and get elected student body president.

The series is produced by Fox 21 Television Studios and doesn’t fall under Murphy’s overall deal with the streaming giant.

The Politician will debut September 27 on Netflix.
