“Avatar” Sequel Marks End of Filming For 2019

The first of four sequels to the 2009 sci-fi film has wrapped filming — that is for this year.

The Avatar sequel has marked the end of filming for 2019 with a behind-the-scenes photo shared via the official Avatar Twitter account.

The behind-the-scenes pic was captioned with “That’s a wrap, Na’vi Nation! It’s our last day of live-action filming in 2019, and we’re celebrating with a sneak peek. Check out this photo of the aft well deck section of the Sea Dragon, a massive mothership that carries an array of other sea-going craft in the sequels.”

Directed by James Cameron for 20th Century Fox stars Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, Sigourney Weaver, Joel David Moore, Dileep Rao, Stephen Lang, and Matt Gerald, all of whom starred in the original film.

Avatar 2 is expected to arrive in theaters on December 17, 2021.
