]]>The new biopic is set to reimagine Callas’ final days in 1970s Paris. Larraín said it’s a fascinating opportunity and a true gift to tell this tumultuous, beautiful, and tragic story alongside Jolie, especially since it allows him to combine his two deepest passions: cinema and opera.
Jolie, whose recent credits include Marvel’s Eternals and action thriller Those Who Wish Me Dead, is just as excited to celebrate Callas’ legacy through this project.
“I take very seriously the responsibility to Maria’s life and legacy. I will give all I can to meet the challenge. Pablo Larraín is a director I have long admired. To be allowed the chance to tell more of Maria’s story with him, and with a script by Steven Knight, is a dream,” said Jolie.
Pablo Larraín is no stranger to directing biopics that take a look back at some of the most tumultuous moments in the lives of important historical figures. His filmography also includes Spencer, starring Kristen Stewart as Princess Diana, and Jackie, with Natalie Portman portraying Jackie Kennedy.

]]>Spielberg’s latest film is set in the post-World War II era Arizona, and it centers on a young man who uses the power of film to uncover a shattering family secret. It’s inspired by the director’s own childhood and he repeatedly described it as his most personal film to date.
The Fabelmans is Spielberg’s first film to ever premiere at TIFF, and the critics and the audience were impressed by it in equal measure. In addition to receiving rave reviews, it also defeated Sarah Polley’s Women Talking and Rian Johnson’s Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery to win TIFF’s People’s Choice Award.
What does this victory say about the film’s future at the upcoming Academy Awards? As a matter of fact, quite a lot! Many of the previous People’s Choice Awards either won or received nominations for the best picture. Most recently, Green Book and Nomadland, both walked away with the Oscars, and The Fabelmansi could experience the same fate after its victory in Toronto.

]]>“I am Queen of the most powerful nation in the world, and my entire family is gone,” Angela Bassett’s Ramonda declares in the emotional teaser trailer, as she prepares to fight for Wakanda with the rest of the kingdom’s leaders in the wake of T’Challa death.
This major plot change was made after the actor Chadwick Boseman passed away in 2020, following a private battle with cancer. Writer-director Ryan Coogler and the stars of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever paid homage to the late actors at Comic-Con and looked back at his legacy.
“I promise you, I feel his hand on me right now… Chad’s passion and genius and his culture and the impact he made on this industry will be felt forever,” said Coogler.
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is coming to theatres on November 11, as the final film of the MCU’s Phase Four. Its cast will include Lupita Nyong’o, Danai Gurira, Winston Duke, Florence Kasumba, Martin Freeman, and Angela Bassett, and newcomers Dominique Thorne, Michaela Coel, and Tenoch Huerta.

]]>Seydoux’s character never appeared on the big screen before since David Lynch decided to omit her from his 1984 adaptation of Dune. In Frank Herbert’s novels, Lady Margot Fenring is a long standing-servant of the Sisterhood so there’s a chance Dune: Part 2 isn’t the only project we’ll get to see her in.
Seydoux became an international sensation after playing the Bond girl Madeleine Swann in Spectre and No Time to Die. She’s a household name in France, where she won Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival and received several nominations for the prestigious César Award. We’ll soon get to see her in David Cronenberg’s Crimes of the Future and Mia Hansen Love’s One Fine Morning, both set to come out later this year.
Dune: Part 2 will see Timothée Chalamet, Rebecca Ferguson, Zendaya, and Josh Brolin return to their respective roles from the first film, while the new cast includes Florence Pugh, Christopher Walken, and Austin Butler. The release date of this project is yet to be announced, but it’s eyeing a 2023 release
