Another “28 Days Later” Sequel Is In The Works

Cillian Murphy in "28 Days Later..."

Danny Boyle has confirmed that another film in the 28 Days Later franchise is in the works.

The original feature hit cinemas back in 2003 and saw Cillian Murphy waking up in an empty hospital to find the whole of London abandoned. While he was in a coma for 28 days, the country was left in ruins following a zombie apocalypse.

The feature quickly became a staple part of the zombie genre and the sequel soon followed.

Now, Danny Boyle has confirmed that he will be teaming up with screenwriter Alex Garland for a second sequel. He revealed the news to The Independent.

Back in 2015, Garland began discussing the possibility and told IGN: “We’ve just started talking about it seriously.

“We’ve got an idea. Danny [Boyle] and [producer] Andrew [Macdonald] and I have been having quite serious conversations about it so it is a possibility. It’s complicated. There’s a whole bunch of reasons why it’s complicated, which are boring so I won’t go into, but there’s a possibility.”

He added: “It’s more likely to be 28 Months than 28 Years. 28 Years gives you one more place to go. 28 Decades is probably taking the piss.”

More details to be shared when they are announced.
