Andy Serkis and Thomas Brodie-Sangster have been tapped to star in Fox’s Mouse Guard.

The Wes Ball-helmed feature will be adapted from the Archaia/Boom! Studios graphic novels.

The feature is based on one of the most popular comics of the decade by David Petersen. The series was launched in 2006. Mouse Guard is a set in medieval times and follows “an order of mice who are the sworn protectors of their realm.” Serkis will portray the villainous Midnight and Brodie-Sangster will play Lieam, the Guard’s newest and youngest members.

According to Variety, the adaptation will be shot using the same technology used in the Planet of the Apes films, which means a mix of motion captures and a slew of visual effects.

Mouse Guard will be penned by Rogue One: A Star Wars Story scribe Gary Whitta. Matt Reeves is producing the feature via his 6th and Idaho production company alongside Ross Richie and Stephen Christy of Boom! Studios and Joe Hartwick Jr.

Production of Mouse Guard is set to being in the spring.
