Spider-Man 3 is currently rounding up its cast, and it’s turning out to be a reunion for the ages. Alfred Molina has been tapped to play Otto Octavius a.k.a Doctor Octopus—the same role he previously portrayed in Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man 2 back in 2004.

This may seem like a strange bit of casting because it’s unusual for actors to reprise their past roles in Marvel reboots, but not this time around. Jamie Foxx, who played Max Dillon aka Electro in The Amazing Spider-Man 2 from 2014, has also been re-cast in the upcoming Tom Holland-led Spider-Man movie.

This led to the speculations that the sequel to Spider-Man: Far From Home will delve into the multi-verse, and potently bring back more actors who starred in previous Spider-Man movies, led by Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire. Even if that’s true, we’re pretty sure that Marvel will keep it a secret until the very last moment to keep the audience guessing.

In addition to Tom Holland, Alfred Molina, and Jamie Foxx, the upcoming Spider-Man film will also star Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, Marisa Tomei, and Benedict Cumberbatch.

The film is set to premiere on December 17th, 2021 and its sequel is already in development.
