The Aaron Sorkin-directed feature has officially added, Michael Keaton, William Hurt (Goliath, Avengers), and JC MacKenzie (The Irishman, The Departed) to its cast. The film, the Trial of the Chicago 7, is scheduled to hit theaters on September 25, 2020.
Keaton, Hurt and MacKenzie join the previously announced ensemble cast, which includes Frank Langella, Mark Rylance, Eddie Redmayne, Sacha Baron Cohen, Jeremy Strong, Alex Sharp, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and Kelvin Harrison Jr.
The film tells the story of the 1969 trial of the 7 defendants charged with conspiracy following the Chicago protests following the 1968 Democratic National Convention. Per The Hollywood Reporter, Keaton will play real-life progressive lawyer Ramsey Clark.
The Trial of the Chicago 7 is Sorkin’s sophomore directorial effort.
