Lucasfilm has reportedly tapped filmmaker JD Dillard and scribe Matt Owens to helm the new Star Wars movie.

Multiple outlets report that the Sleight and Sweetheart writer-director, Dillard, and Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. writer, Owens, are in talks to board the new Star Wars feature. The project is still in its very early stages, so any and all other details remain unknown.

Should the duo board the project, it’ll be the first time black filmmakers were to helm a live-action Star Wars movie.

It is still unknown whether or not the film will head for a theatrical premiere, or bow on the streaming platform Disney+.

Disney and Lucasfilm declined to comment.
