The 72nd Primetime Emmy Awards happened virtually Sunday night and they were hosted by Jimmy Kimmel. A ton of firsts happened at the awards ceremony and it was a huge night for Schitt’s Creek, Watchmen, and Zendaya.
The biggest winner of the night hands down was Schitt’s Creek which went home with seven awards and became the first series to win every major comedy award including best comedy series and acting wins for Eugene Levy, Daniel Levy, Catherine O’Hara, and Annie Murphy.
Watchmen also had a great night going home with four awards and becoming the first comic-book adaptation to win in the limited series category.
Succession went home with four awards and along with Schitt’s Creek, the two shows dominated the comedy, limited series, and drama fields getting the three top outstanding series awards.
Euphoria’s star Zendaya also made history after she won lead drama actress and became the youngest-ever winner in the category, at just 24, and the second Black actor to win in the category.
