]]>The final season of You will bring one major change our way, as Sera Gamble prepares to stop down as showrunner. Michael Foley and Justin W. Lo will take over from her after serving as executive producers since Season 1 and Season 2, respectively.
The final season of You is less of a cancelation and more of a natural conclusion for the acclaimed show, and its producers Greg Berlanti and Sarah Schechter never wanted it to run for longer.
“Ever since our friends at Alloy shared Caroline Kepnes’ fantastic book, we have always conceived it as a five-season journey. We are excited to continue our relationship with Mike and Justin as they take over the reins as co-showrunners and prepare to bring Joe Goldberg home,” said the duo in a statement.
Penn Badgley will return as Joe Goldberg in Season 5, most likely along with Charlotte Ritchie, who plays his new girlfriend Kate. Season 4 concluded with the couple moving back to New York and using Kate’s inheritance to clear Joe’s name and rehabilitate his public image.

With fans divided on the homicidal antihero Joe Goldberg, more and more people have been tuning into Netflix to join with the debate.
Even more impressively, 80 million viewers streamed the Netflix original Bird Box. With viewing figures like that, the need for buying the rights to stream movies made by other companies seems to lessen. In fact, the success of Netflix original content could lead to less 2nd-run programming.
“We are beginning to have our original movie offering mirror the success of our series offering for consumer enjoyment,” Netflix said in a statement to shareholders. “As a result of our success with original content, we’re becoming less focused on 2nd-run programming.”
The latest figures show that 137 million people subscribe to Netflix worldwide.
