The first footage of the highly-anticipated Star Wars TV show has been unveiled.

The first official trailer for The Mandalorian dropped this Friday at the Disney+ showcase at the D23 Expo in Anaheim. The series hails from Lion King director Jon Farveau.

“We were able to put together a production that stands up side-by-side with all the features,” Favreau told expo-goers.

“It’s a whole new Star Wars in a whole new timeframe that hasn’t been covered except in the Extended Universe …  The Empire is gone, and then chaos reigns. There’s no central government in the galaxy…The gunfighters are roaming and people are fighting for their own safety and to try to build safe communities, but still, it’s a dangerous world.”

The first-ever live-action Star Wars TV series takes place three years after the events in Return of the Jedi and follows a lone gunfighter in the Outer Rim, played by Game of Thrones’ Pedro Pascal.

The series also stars Giancarlo Esposito, Carl Weathers, Gina Carano, Nick Nolte, and Emily Swallow with Taika Waititi voicing the droid IG-11.

Favreau confirmed the news during his performance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! Thursday, telling the host, “We’re done with the first season. I’m actually writing part of the second season now. So I’m having a blast.”

We finally have some details about the highly anticipated Star Wars live-action TV series that will be part of Disney’s upcoming streaming service.

Jon Favreau, who will write and produced the series, recently went on his Instagram profile to reveal that the show’s official title will be The Mandalorian, while also giving us a glimpse of its story.

“After the stories of Jango and Boba Fett, another warrior emerges in the Star Wars universe. The Mandalorian is set after the fall of the Empire and before the emergence of the First Order. We follow the travails of a lone gunfighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy far from the authority of the New Republic,” Favreau shared.

There are no indications about the possible premiere date for this Star Wars live-action TV series or any further info, which isn’t such a surprise given the fact that Disney’s streaming service will only launch in late 2019.

But fans are hoping that Jon Favreau will do an excellent job once the project kicks off since the 51-year-old actor and director already has experience of working within the Star Wars universe. Favreau previously voiced the character of Pre Vizsla in the animated series Star Wars: The Clone Wars, while also having a role in 2018’s Solo: A Star Wars Story.

It is important to note that Favreau’s show won’t be the only Star Wars live-action TV show on Disney’s streaming service, since the studio is reportedly working on several more similar projects.
