Mattel has kept pretty quiet about this movie for a while, but they managed to pique our interest after announcing they hired Greta Gerwig as a director. She’s also in charge of writing the script alongside her frequent creative partner Noah Baumbach.
As for Gosling, Deadline reports that he initially declined the role due to his busy schedule. As pre-production dragged out, he agreed to come back on board after Warner Bros. kept insisting he’s their one and only choice to play Ken.
Gosling hasn’t appeared in any new movies since playing Neil Armstrong in Damien Chazelle’s biopic First Man in 2018. He currently has several projects in development, and we’ll next get to see him in the action thriller The Gray Man by Anthony and Joe Russo, also starring Chris Evans, Ana de Armas, and Regé-Jean Page.
