Shocking deaths are fairly common in movies, especially when it comes to the horror or thriller genre. But sometimes, we don’t expect a certain character to die whether it’s because he is too lovable, too important or simply played by a major actor. Let’s check out top 8 unexpected movie deaths.

Carolyn Fry in Pitch Black

Carolyn Fry and Riddick spent the whole movie fighting blood-thirsty monsters on a deserted planet. When they are just about to escape, she gets killed by one of the creatures.

Julian Taylor in Children of Men

When you see Julian Moore, you’d expect her to be the leading role incapable of dying. But in this movie, she dies with minimal effort during an ambush.

Chad Feldheimer in Burn After Reading

Brad Pitt is one of the best actors in Hollywood and no stranger to dying in movies. But the character of Chad Felheimer will be forever remembered for being shot in the face by George Clooney.

Vincent Vega in Pulp Fiction

When John Travolta and his fellow hitman, Samuel L. Jackson, are feuding about divine intervention, Travolta’s character, Vega, accidentally gets killed. Of course, it is a shock, considering he is the lead role, but it is a Tarantino movie after all.

Lt. Col Austin Travis in Executive Decision

Steven Seagal always plays the ultimate, undefeatable and immortal character. But in this movie, he dies during opening scenes in order to save his crew.

P.K Highsmith and Christopher Danson in The Other Guys

Samuel L. Jackson and Dwayne Johnson are known for action hero roles. Seeing them in the movie got everyone pumped up. But they died some 5 minutes into the movie by jumping off the building.

Billy Costigan in The Departed

The whole movie is one big roller-coaster ride about an undercover cop, played by DiCaprio, who infiltrates deeply into the Irish mob. When you finally think he is going to make it out alive, he dies to everyone’s shock and disappointment.

Dick Hallorann in The Shining

Without Hallorann, no one would even know what “the shining” actually means. On top of that, during one scene he looks like he’s going to save the day from the ax-murdering Danny Torrance. But alas, it didn’t bode well for Dick.

Whoever said January is the worst month clearly hasn’t seen the list of all the great movies and TV coming to Netflix this month. Here are 10 films we’re buzzing to watch again on our home screens.

All The Indiana Jones Movies

That’s right, ALL of them have been added to Netflix this month so prepare yourself for some Harrison Ford tomb-raiding action.

Pan’s Labyrinth

Oscar-winning director Guillermo del Toro’s haunting masterpiece is also being added to our watchlist.

The Dark Knight

Finally, the best of the Batman saga is being added to Netflix.

Watchmen

Before the new TV series airs on HBO, you can watch/re-watch the original cinematic adaptation of the popular graphic novel.

Solo: A Star Wars Story

If you didn’t get round to watching it at the cinema, you can now catch it in your living room.

Definitely, Maybe

A charming rom-com starring Ryan Reynalds and Abigail Breslin.

Pulp Fiction

Finally…!

The Addams Family

Halloween may be long over but the spooky and kooky Addams family are a welcome treat to our small screens.

The Strangers

The original was far better than last year’s tacky remake.

And on January 29 you will be able to watch…

Ant-Man and the Wasp

So now you have no excuse for not being up to date when MCU’s Avengers: Endgame lands at cinemas worldwide in April.

You have probably never considered Pulp Fiction to be a romantic comedy, right? While this Quentin Tarantino masterpiece has its fair share of comedy and maybe even romance, it is still a bit too violent to be considered a rom-com.

Despite this, someone at Comedy Central UK decided to disguise Pulp Fiction as a movie similar to something like Love Actually in a new promo.

“This is the story about 15 people with very different lives,” says the voiceover while showing us the most important characters in Tarantino’s movie. “But one thing in common. Love.”

Just when you think this scam might work, the promo quickly cuts to the violent parts, which reveal the true nature of the movie before ending with a fitting message: “Fool someone you love into watching Pulp Fiction.”

You can check this funny promo for Pulp Fiction below.

Released in 1994, Pulp Fiction was both commercial and critical success and went on to be considered one of the greatest movies ever made. Directed by Quentin Tarantino, it tells several stories about characters involved in the crime scene of Los Angeles. The cast of the film featured several high profile actors including John Travolta, Samuel L. Jackson, Bruce Willis, Ving Rhames, and Uma Thurman.
