]]>According to The Hollywood Reporter, Warner Bros. is working on a spinoff movie focusing on underwater kingdom The Trench from the original film. Reportedly, Noah Gardner and Aidan Fitzgerald will take on the task of writing the script for the feature that will feel more like a horror movie than a superhero flick.
Titled The Trench, the movie will have a lot smaller budget than the rest of DC movies and will not feature any of the Aquaman’s main cast. It will, however, be produced by Aquaman director James Wan and producer Peter Safran.
The Trench are the new addition to the DC World, being first introduced in the comics in 2011. Once the inhabitant of Atlantis, they survived the continent’s submergence in the water but ended up being stranded in the Marianas Trench. The Trench developed various powers over the years while turning into dangerous monsters.

]]>During his appearance at 2018 San Diego Comic Con, Jason Momoa revealed he had an offer to portray a Marvel villain in a Russo Brothers (Anthony and Joe Russo) movie.
“I met the Russo brothers, who are amazing,” Momoa said. “It was one of the best meetings I’ve ever had. I was going to do something with them, which unfortunately didn’t work out… I don’t know [what character it was for]. It was going to be a villain, I think. People always want to hire me to play a villain, you know?”
The 38-year-old Aquaman star didn’t reveal the details about the movie or the exact character from the comics he would play. However, Momoa did discuss the reasons for why he turned down the opportunity to play Drax in the Guardians of the Galaxy.
“I think it’s perfectly cast,” he said. “Dave [Bautista] is perfect for that role, for Drax. It didn’t really fit in my time because I’ve done so many things where I don’t say much and I’m colored up and I have my shirt off again. I made a conscious choice to turn down some movies that were action-based to direct Road to Paloma so people could see that side.”
Luckily for DC fans, Jason Momoa decided to stick with DC and is now bringing us a highly anticipated Aquaman stand-alone movie on December 21st, 2018.
