This may seem like a strange bit of casting because it’s unusual for actors to reprise their past roles in Marvel reboots, but not this time around. Jamie Foxx, who played Max Dillon aka Electro in The Amazing Spider-Man 2 from 2014, has also been re-cast in the upcoming Tom Holland-led Spider-Man movie.

This led to the speculations that the sequel to Spider-Man: Far From Home will delve into the multi-verse, and potently bring back more actors who starred in previous Spider-Man movies, led by Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire. Even if that’s true, we’re pretty sure that Marvel will keep it a secret until the very last moment to keep the audience guessing.

In addition to Tom Holland, Alfred Molina, and Jamie Foxx, the upcoming Spider-Man film will also star Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, Marisa Tomei, and Benedict Cumberbatch.

The film is set to premiere on December 17th, 2021 and its sequel is already in development.

Oscar-winning actor Jamie Foxx is stepping behind the camera to direct When We Pray. 

The drama follows two brothers who become pastors at different churches in the same community. One brother develops his church into a modern, high-tech congregation that uses digital devices and ATM machines. The other brother follows a humbler path but soon finds his church in decline and in need of financial help.

“It’s a great honor to work with such a talented and passionate man as Jamie Foxx and I’m pleased to have our new, Fight to Fame partners onboard which will give Jamie the total freedom to make this film which is close to his heart, thus launching this new unique collaboration,” said Philippe Diaz, founder and Chairman of Cinema Libre Studio.

“Jamie Foxx is a Hollywood superstar–but audiences around the world love him as well. Our strong relationships in China and other Asian countries will ensure that When We Pray will be enthusiastically received by Asian moviegoers,” added Carrie Wang, Chairman of Fight to Fame.

Get ready to explore some of life’s biggest questions with Pixar’s upcoming animated film from Inside Out‘s Pete Docter. 

The animated existential adventure feature follows a middle school music teacher who dreams of being a jazz performer. The teacher, Joe Gardner is voiced by Jamie Foxx. 

“We only have a short time on this planet,” Foxx’s character says in the new trailer. “You want to become the person you were born to be. Don’t waste your time on all the junk of life. Spend your precious hours doing what will bring out the real you, the brilliant passionate you that’s willing to contribute something meaningful to this world.”

The voice cast also includes Questlove, Phylicia Rashad, and Daveed Diggs.

Soul hits theaters June 19, 2020.

Soul, the film that “will take you on a journey from the streets of New York City to the cosmic realms to discover the answers to life’s most important questions” will star Jamie Foxx and Tina Fey as the leads.

They will be joined by Daveed Diggs, Phylicia Rashad, and Questlove, who are also set to lend their voices to the original animated film. 

Soul is Pete Docter’s fourth directed feature for Pixar, following Monsters, Inc., Up, and Inside Out. 

“I’m directing a film that asks the ultimate question that we’ve all thought about at one time or another: Why am I here? Where did I come from? And what am I here for?” Docter revealed. “But who would make a cartoon about that? Metaphysics? We’re calling it Soul.”

After Docter made the announcement at D23 on Saturday, Fey told expo-goers: “I’m so excited to be onstage with all these people and to be a part of this movie. Wait ’til you hear Jamie Foxx in this movie, guys. It’s really good. I think you’re going to like it. I think it’s real emotional. But also like, there’s nothing better than a Pixar movie, right?”

Soul arrives in theaters on June 19th, 2020.

The Wild Bunch remake hails from Mel Gibson for Warner Bros. who is financing and releasing. Gibson also co-wrote the script alongside Bryan Bagby. He will also executive produce the movie. Jerry Bruckheimer is attached to produce. 

The remake of the 1969 Western will retell the story of aging outlaws trying to live out the final days of the Wild West wanting to score one last time. The original starred William Holden and Ernest Borgnine and was nominated for Oscars for original screenplay and score.

This will be the first time Gibson steps behind the camera since 2016’s Hacksaw Ridge. The feature earned Gibson an Oscar nom for Best Director and Best Picture, taking home two awards.

In a statement following the announcement, Jamie Foxx revealed that he was interested in the role for some time and even discussed the character with McFarlane several years ago.

“He was taken aback when I told him with the enthusiasm of a young child that more than anything I wanted to put my name in the hat to embody his beloved character SPAWN,” said Foxx in a statement. “I told him no one would work harder than me if given the opportunity… well… the opportunity is here!! I’m humbled and ready to transform… and to top things off the young Jason Blum is lending his brilliance to the project! Time to be great!!!! #SPAWN”

The first issue of Spawn was released in 1992, with 285 issues released since. The comic book centers on Albert Simmons, former Force Recon Marine, who starts working as a black ops agent for CIA. After he was murdered and sent to Hell for knowingly killing the innocent, Albert manages to strike a deal with an evil creature known as Malebolgia, and gets back to Earth in exchange for his soul. When Albert returns to Earth, he realizes that five years have passed since his death and that he turned into a demonic creature with superpowers.

“I will be directing my first full-length feature, and I fully understand the need to surround myself with as much skill, talent, and passion as possible,” said McFarlane in a statement. “To now have an Academy Award winning actor like Jamie Foxx, along with the dedication of Blumhouse Productions, will not only make my directing job that much easier, but more importantly, will bring a level of quality and star power that most first time directors could only foolishly dream of.”

The Spawn comic book was previously adapted into HBO’s animated series Todd McFarlane’s Spawn and a 1997 movie of the same name starring Michael Jai White.
