]]>Interstellar is both an incredible cinematic journey as well as an emotional one.
Being stranded on Mars is probably most people’s worst nightmare. The Martian is a story that celebrates how far we have come and the value of human intellect when accompanied with our survival instinct.
It might not be entirely set in space but the moments when it is are extremely memorable.
This movie captures the terror and wonder of space better than any other. It cost Alfonso Cuarón $100 million to capture the shot of existential panic when Frank realizes he is going to spend the rest of his lift drifting though space.
Gravity is definitely one to watch in the cinema. The visuals are astounding.
The Star Trek universe is just part of the reason that fans get obsessed. The rest is down to the raw emotion and pure messages that the franchise shares.
It’s hilarious, colorful and insanely charming. It’s not surprising it appeals to both Marvel fans and superhero amateurs alike.
If you prefer practicality over existentialism, this is probably the space movie for you.
Wall-E is a Pixar favorite. It might have been the uncontrollable advancement of technology which got humans to their state in Wall-E but it takes one adorable robot to help people rediscover their humanity.
Alien (1979)
Alien still continues to horrify almost forty years later. The uncanny feel of the movie and the way that silence interacts with shocking sound makes it a classic.

Lee looks rather perturbed when Jean Grey changes the direction of his hose with her telekinesis.

Tony Stark mistakes Lee for Hugh Hefner.
Thor (2011)
Lee attempts to move Thor’s hammer with his pickup truck. Unfortunately, he has no luck.
Avengers (2012)
In a scene which seems reminiscent of Magneto in the post-credit scene of the X-Men sequel, Lee pops up in a newsreel playing chess in the park. He is being interviewed and says: “Superheroes in New York? Give me a break.” Some sneaky meta-humour there.
The Amazing Spider-Man (2012)
Spider-Man and the Lizard take their epic fight into the school library and books and shelves fly everywhere. Lee stands obliviously in the foreground, enjoying a piece of classical music which the audience enjoys with him, before the violent and chaotic crashes return.
Guardians of the Galaxy (2014)
Rocket catches him flirting with a young woman through his spy gadget.

As all the world’s nuclear weapons are launched into space, Stan Lee stands next to Joan, his real life wife, watching.
Doctor Strange (2016)
During the fight scene between Dr Strange, Mardo and Kaecilius, Lee can be spotted on a bus in NYC reading a copy of “The Doors of Perception.” More sneaky meta-humour.

]]>Ryan Reynolds starred as Deadpool in the 2016 feature with the eponymous title. He also recently starred again in the 2018 sequel, which fans are describing as hilarious and better than the original in every aspect. The movie is currently rated a respectable 8.1/10 on IMDB.
James Gunn seemed to be among those who rated the movie and tweeted last weekend:
“Yesterday I finally saw Deadpool 2, which I loved, and also the brilliant Revenge. Two completely different, fantastic films – cinema’s alive!”
Ryan Reynolds saw the tweet and replied: “Thank you James! Crossover?”
Gunn followed up with a “Yes, please.”
Although the tone was light and teasing, we’re hoping that it could in fact be a possibility. In 2019, Disney and Fox are due to merge, meaning that Deadpool and the rest of the X-Men films will join the Guardians of the Galaxy family franchise.
We’re not saying a Deadpool and Guardians crossover is guaranteed, but it could happen and that’s definitely something.

]]>10. Harley Quinn (Batman)
A villain who does whatever the hell she feels like. We loved Margot Robbie’s portrayal in Suicide Squad.
9. Ozymandis (The Watchmen)
DC has a tendency to blur the lines between black and white/good and evil. Ozymandis epitomizes this in his character.
8. Loki (Thor)
He’s been around in mythology for centuries but we love Tom Hiddleston’s punky and rightly mischievous version of Loki.
7. Thanos (Guardians of The Galaxy)
We haven’t seen much of him yet, but we can’t wait to see him attempt to destroy half the universe in Avengers: Infinity War. Big talk from a pretty big guy.
6. Venom (Spider-Man)
Everyone has a dark side, even Spider-Man.
5. Mystique (X-Men)
She alternates between sides but Mystique’s shapeshifting powers make her a powerful ally.
4. Magneto (X-Men)
Magneto is a great villain and a hero from where he’s standing.
3. Catwoman (Batman)
She’s cool, she’s sexy and she doesn’t follow the rules.
2. Hela (Thor)
We loved Hela in Thor: Ragnarok. Her costume was amazing and she effortlessly crushed Thor’s hammer.
1. The Joker (Batman)
“Whatever doesn’t kill you, simply makes you stranger…” An utter nutter who scarily sometimes makes worrying sense… in an insane kind of way.

First Groot is dead. Baby Groot is his son.
— James Gunn (@JamesGunn) February 27, 2018
Fans aren’t sure how to take the news. We thought that Baby Groot was something of a reincarnation of First Groot and so we never mourned First Groot properly. Rewatching the first movie will now be tainted with this new knowledge.
Can we not just pretend that it’s still the same Groot? According to James Gunn, character revivals in movies takes away from the story. Groot died in Guardians of the Galaxy in a beautiful moment of self-sacrifice. To revive Groot just because the character is popular, according to Gunn, would detract from his meaningful death. A character quite reasonably cannot survive being exploded into a thousand pieces. Well, thanks for clearing that up, we suppose.

]]>The plot may not be the most compelling of the franchise but the stunning, surrealist visuals make for a truly mind-bending cinematic experience.
Captain America might not have the strength of Hulk or Iron Man’s gadgets but he is in many ways the most admirable, human Avenger and Winter Soldier really showcases this.
Thor, Ragnarok takes two of our favorite Avengers out of the usual setting of Earth and catapults them onto Planet Sakaar. If the intergalactic setting is not satisfying enough, the movie gets even more unexpected when Thor is forced to go head to head with Hulk in a gladiatorial arena. Exciting and at times hilarious, Ragnarok definitely deserves to be ranked highly.
There’s a human who is also “half Star Lord”, a badass green lady, a giant tree with a heart of gold and a raccoon with a seriously bad temper. What’s not to love?! The unlikely group start out in rivalry to flog an infinity stone but end up rebelling together then selflessly defending the galaxy. It will have you in stitches then in tears then back in stitches.
Black Panther is unlike any other Marvel movie and is a breathtaking, mind-opening feature for so many reasons. If you haven’t seen it yet, we advise you to watch it now.
