]]>The movie is a remake of the 1988 version of the film of the same name. This time around though, Chucky is not a doll possessed by an evil villain. Instead, he is a robot that has lost control, possibly as a result of malicious reprogramming. We’re not sure which is more frightening.
The modern twist on the ’80s film gives the reboot a new lease of life. The one thing we are concerned about is whether the IT producers will be able to pull the whole doll-coming-to-life scenario off. After all, half the charm of the original came from the ’80s slasher style. Without this charm, could Chucky’s new story be a little cheesy? It is bound to depend on just how high caliber the robotics of this new doll is.
You can judge for yourself in the trailer here:
Child’s Play will be released in cinemas June 20.

]]>We see very little of the doll in the teaser but we are at least reassured that the remodeled, upgraded Chucky doll (now named Buddi), is just as big a murderous fiend as his predecessor.
The trailer starts off as an advert for the doll from tech company ‘Kaslan Corporation’. Buddy may have a new name but he is still rocking the colorful stripey jumper and dungarees as the original doll.
We’re yet to witness the high-tech villainous doll in action but we do witness Andy’s mom (Aubrey Plaza) being tied up and tortured. Chucky 2.0 thus seems to be even more brutal and terrifying than the original.

]]>A laughing dummy on a tricycle doesn’t sound all that creepy… oh wait, it does. And it is.
Dracula
There have been hundreds of vampires in movie history, but Dracula will always be the most infamous and the most iconic.
Chucky
Chucky from Child’s Play is not a doll you want in your toy box. Though, if it’s a choice between Chucky and The Conjuring‘s Annabelle, we choose Chucky every time.
Pennywise
Pennywise from IT is terrifying in both the original and the remake. He’s also responsible for a growing epidemic of coulrophobia (fear of clowns).
Michael Myers
A slasher franchise like Halloween doesn’t get to be one of the greatest horror movies of all time without one killer villain. That villain is Michael Myers.
Freddy Krueger
His horrific appearance and the fact he kills you in your sleep makes Freddy terrifying. His witty banter and brilliant one-liners is what makes him iconic.
Samara
Samara from The Ring is so creepy, we don’t even want to share a picture.
Kayako
AKA that seriously creepy kid with long hair from The Grudge.
Jason
Friday the 13th‘s Jason Voorhees is another masked slasher villain that you definitely don’t want to encounter.
Jack Torrance
Jack Torrance from The Shining might have the appearance of an ordinary man, but his unpredictable mood swings and the ax he swings about makes him one hell of a villain.

]]>Now, I have seen Child’s Play and several of the terrible sequels, but something about the evil doll still manages to unnerve me. I’ll probably be first in line for the remake, which brings Chucky back using animantronics. This means he will be more realistic and potentially even more horrifying than ever before.
Today, the makers have shared a sneak peak of the progress so far in bringing Chucky to life. I say that of course (touch wood!) not in the literal sense. You can take a look yourself here:
“A behind the scenes look at the creation of the all-new, fully animatronic CHUCKY doll, courtesy of the world-renowned MastersFX team,” the caption reads.
The Child’s Play remake will be creeping up on the big screen June 21st, 2019.
