ABC has unveiled that the Community star Joel McHale as the host of their upcoming game show Card Sharks. The network will debut the show, based on the program from 1978, in the summer and promises an opportunity of winning a “life-changing payday” for the contestants.

Card Sharks will see two players going against each other in a competition that results with a $10,000 cash prize. The winner of the initial race then risks the prize in predicting the value of seven cards with the outcome increasing or decreasing its total value.  After predicting the seventh and final card, the winning contestant will go home with whatever they have left in the bank.

“I’m very excited to be hosting Card Sharks,” – said McHale in a statement. “Game winners can win tens of thousands of dollars and in an updated twist – losers will be fed to a pen of adult Tiger Sharks.”

ABC’s revival will be the fourth iteration of Card Sharks. The first series ran from 1978 to 1981 on NBC with Jim Perry as a host before CBS did a revival run from 1986 to 1989 with Bob Eubanks. The last revival run, which had its run on syndication in 2001 and 2002, saw Pat Bullard hosting.

Besides Card Sharks, ABC is also planning to reboot Press Your Luck, another trivia-based game show from the ’80s. Both reboots will premiere in the summer.
