]]>Both daytime and late-night talk shows operate under the same rules, and they’ll be able to return after WGA ratifies a new contract with the studios. Guild members can only start working on new scripts after this point, making it possible for talk shows to return by the first week of October, but with a limited guest roaster due to the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike.
Unless the SAG-AFTRA strike comes to a close pretty soon, sketch comedy shows such as Saturday Night Live will have to rely on non-acting talent for hosting duties. Its cast members can legally return to work, but some of them might be reluctant to do so after being active on the picket lines.
Scripted television shows, as well as movies, still have a long road ahead of them even after the WGA strike is over. The SAG-AFTRA strike is still raging on, and actors won’t be able to participate in any productions until it’s over, unless there’s an interim agreement in place.

]]>In an official statement announcing the film’s cancelation, a Warner Bros. spokesperson stated “the decision to not release Batgirl reflects our leadership’s strategic shift as it relates to the DC universe and HBO Max.” Batgirl was developed as an HBO Max original, and Warner Bros. wanted to focus on big theatrical event films instead… but why not simply release it theatrically?
After spending $90 million on this project, Warner Bros. would have to invest more money into a promotion if they switched to theatrical release. This didn’t seem like a viable option because the test screening response was largely negative. Some fans aren’t buying these explanations because several outlets reported that Batgirl received a similar audience response to It and Shazam!
When all is said and done, it seemed that Warner Bros. decided to cancel Batgirl because it was more viable as a tax write-off than an actual movie. The studio is set to receive a tax break if they never monetize Batgirl in any shape or form, so that’s why they’re not releasing it on HBO Max or selling it to another studio.

]]>The post Why Mad Men’s Peggy Olsen Is A Feminist Icon appeared first on Entertainment For Us.
]]>Peggy gets paid half the amount of her male peers and yet she works twice as hard. In season one, she impresses her male colleagues when she brings a feminine stance to their makeup account. It’s not long before she becomes an invaluable member of the team and a copywriter in her own right.
In addition to being a driven career woman, Peggy does let her hair down from time to time. She makes spontaneous decisions, parties in Manhattan, occasionally smokes marijuana and sleeps with whoever she wants to. She isn’t bogged down by society’s view of the “perfect woman” and she subsequently knows how to have a good time.
In the spirit of Sheryl Sandberg, Peggy is not afraid to ask for more. Her male peers jealously wonder why it’s Peggy that receives her own office and the answer they are given is simply “she asked for it.” Peggy knows that if you don’t ask, you don’t get. She subsequently has no fear when it comes to demanding what she deserves.
Peggy may not always make the best decisions, but she owns them. For example, in season one, she decides to give up her baby so that she can pursue her career. Down the line, she cruelly tells Pete about the baby and explains that she could have had him if she wanted, but she didn’t. Instead of choosing a man because that is what she is “supposed” to do, she makes her own decisions.
Finally, Peggy relies on her creative talents to help her get ahead. In the early seasons, Joan frequently reminds her that she should use her womanhood to get whats he wants. Although Peggy considers the advice, she ultimately trusts in her own talents and intelligence to get her where she wants to be. And it pays off.

]]>This highly-anticipated sequel sees Tom Hardy returning to his role from the first movie, but he now has to face a new dangerous threat. He must defeat serial killer Cletus Kasady (Woody Harrelson), who manages to escape prison after becomes the host of the symbiote Carnage.
Venom: Let There Be Carnage was originally set to be released on October 2nd, 2020 but it was delayed on several occasions due to the pandemic shutdowns. Instead of relying on a “day-and-date” release model, made popular by Disney+ and HBO Max, Sony fully embraced the theatrical strategy and their patience eventually paid off.
“We are so grateful to Tom, [director] Andy [Serkis], [screenwriter] Kelly [Marcel], and all of the many gifted contributors who made such a unique and fun film. We are also pleased that patience and theatrical exclusivity have been rewarded with record results,” Tom Rothman, CEO of Sony Pictures Motion Picture Group, said in an official statement.

The cast of the new Paddington movie is yet to be confirmed, but Hugh Bonneville discussed the prospect of another movie in one of his recent interviews, so it’s safe to assume he’s in. Ben Whishaw, who’s in charge of voicing Paddington, also said he’s eager to return during a 2018 interview with Entertainment Weekly.
The plot of the third movie is still under wraps. The release date is still a mystery, as well, but it will take some time to get the old gang back together. We still don’t know where Paddington’s next adventure will lead him, but we’re hoping there will be marmalade sandwiches waiting for him once he gets there.
