]]>Now, one year is a long time to wait for a TV show, but we decided to help you out with that and bring you 7 things you probably didn’t know about Veronica Mars. After you check out our list, you’ll be inspired to re-watch the show, which will make the wait a lot less painful. So let’s begin.
Male Veronica Mars
When he conceived the idea for this show, Veronica Mars creator Rob Thomas initially envisioned the main protagonists to be a male. After he started developing the idea into a TV show, he decided to go with a female character, and we have to say that he made a good decision.
Kristen Bell was the first one to audition for the titular role, and around 100 actresses gave it a shot after her. But she made such a strong impression that Thomas couldn’t imagine anyone else in the role except her after that.
Percy Daggs III, who plays Wallace Fennel on the show, was tired of seeing his character doing favors to Veronica early in the show, so he asked the Rob Thomas to make Wallace a bigger part of the storylines and “more funny and lighthearted.”
Director Joss Whedon, who created Buffy the Vampire Slayer, spoke so highly of Veronica Mars in one of his reviews that the producers decided to ask him to do a cameo. Whedon ended up playing “Car Rental Guy” in season two. There were also plans to have Stephen King making a guest appearance, but the popular author had to pass on the opportunity due to other commitments.
Veronica and Logan were never supposed to engage in a romance. But after Thomas noticed Kirsten Bell and Jason Dohring’s on-screen chemistry, he decided to get their characters together.
Ant-Man star Paul Rudd almost became a recurring member of the series’ cast, since he was the favorite to portray Vinnie Van Lowe. The role eventually went to Ken Marino, while Rudd made a guest appearance in season three.
Before the show was canceled, Rob Thomas pitched the idea for season four to The CW and other interest networks. The fourth season would see Veronica Mars becoming an FBI agent while her boss would be played by Walton Goggins.
