]]>We have questions, and thankfully Sterling K. Brown talked to Entertainment Weekly about the finale that wrapped up the first half of season 4 of This Is Us.
“[Randall] loves his mom like nobody’s business,” Brown told the outlet. “And the idea of him not being at her aid as she enters into one of the more trying periods of her life is anathema. He will make himself available until he uses himself up. And that may be something that we see until he uses him up. That’s what Randall does. He does too much until he can’t do anything else.”
And what about Kevin?
“I think it took him to age 39 to be clear on what it was that he wanted for his life. He has all the trappings of fame and fortune, and he’s still feeling empty. And this time in Pennsylvania with his uncle and with Cassidy gave him a sense of family, a sense of responsibility to other people outside of themselves. And it felt good. So now I think it’s not so much of an impulsion, it’s a recognition of ‘That thing that I wasn’t clear on, I finally have clarity.’ So I lean towards it being a positive.”
But despite all the difficulties looming for the Pearsons, according to Brown, “Even when you fracture — and you may fracture for a period of time — you ultimately, at the end of the day, come back together.”

]]>The Hollywood Reporter confirmed that Austin Abrams has been cast in the currently airing season of the hit NBC drama.

Abrams’ first episode, Flip a Coin is set to premiere on Tuesday, October 15.

]]>The post “This Is Us” Creator Dan Fogelman Talks Season 4 appeared first on Entertainment For Us.
]]>According to Fogelman, fans should get ready for “a big, sprawling, ambitious start.” Apparently, the season will include its fair share of twists and turns.
“The goal is to never fall into a pattern where the show just becomes expected,” he said. “We’re coming towards the midpoint of our series, saying, ‘We’re not just sitting back and taking it easy.’”
As for the characters’ development, this season we’ll get to see a lot more of Jack’s (Milo Ventimiglia) recovery from this time in Vietnam.
“Jack is trying to figure out what he wants to do with his life. He needs to find himself a career. And he needs to do it all while dealing with the trauma of Vietnam and everything that happened with his brother while also trying to woo the love of his life. It’s a complicated period for him.”
Despite having gone through a bad break up, Kevin (Justin Hartley) finds himself faced with another big opportunity.
“Often Kevin’s story, more than all the other characters, is very existential,” says Fogelman. “He’s a guy who’s searching for meaning and his place in the world and also on the bigger more macro level: is he a good person or not? And it’s ironic because he’s the ex-sitcom actor. It would be very easy to view him as the shallowest character. But [what] he’s chasing and trying to navigate is often the most complex stuff. This season really puts him on a path towards starting to figure that out.”
Season 4 of This Is Us premieres September 24.

The season finale will “get [fans] a lot of answers,” according to Fogelman. The finale
“I’m excited about the last episode, It’s a good one. I think you’re going to get a lot of answers for all the main characters.” Fogelman added.

We have a plan; we’re at the midpoint. We know where we’re going, we know what we’re doing. I’m more excited about the back half of the plan than the front half.”
