The post We Need to Talk about “The Umbrella Academy” Season 2 Ending appeared first on Entertainment For Us.
]]>Now that we’ve set the stage, we have some questions that we hope Season 3 (once the show gets renewed) will answer.
At the end of the season, the team heads back to 2019 with The Commission briefcase. They’ve managed to land one day after the apocalypse. Upon first glance, things seem to be normal, but then Sir Reginald greets them and tells them that they’re not home. Instead of being at The Umbrella Academy, they’re at The Sparrow Academy.
Which leads us to wonder if they created a new timeline. The Umbrella Academy met with Reginald in 1963 to tell them of their existence and what happens in the future. This may have caused Reginald to change the future and avoid adopting the Umbrella Academy kids at birth. This fits in with what Reginald says in the final scene, “I knew you’d show up eventually.”
In the final episode, the Hargeeeves see a photo of Ben on the mantle and are told that they are at The Sparrow Academy. We see Ben, but we don’t see the rest of the academy, which makes us wonder if the team is alternative versions of the rest of the Umbrella Academy or if it consists of six of the remaining 35 babies born on the same day.
We know that there are 43 children born on the same day in 1989 and we’ve been introduced to seven of them plus Lila. Seven of them were adopted by Reginald and The Handler was searching for the other kids born on the same day who have special abilities. We are left wondering what happened to the rest of the babies and if they’re part of The Sparrow Academy.
Speaking of Lila, why didn’t she follow the Hargeeves back to 2019 after learning that she was one of them? We saw her superpowers, which were a combination of all of the siblings’ powers combined, and we’re sure that we haven’t seen the last of her. After The Handler (the woman who raised her) dies, Lila has a chance to be with her real family, but instead, she grabs a Commission briefcase and disappears.
Will she be a friend or foe to The Umbrella Academy and did she mess with the timeline? We happen to think that she may be part of The Sparrow Academy.

]]>Multiple outlets report that The Umbrella Academy showrunner has signed a multi-year overall deal with Netflix. Under the deal, Blackman and his Borderline Entertainment production banner will write and produce series and other projects exclusively for the streamer.
“Over the past three years of working with Netflix, I have developed and created shows with different genres. I plan on continuing to develop creative programming that spans a wide variety of worlds and formats. Netflix has offered me an unparalleled level of creative support that motivates me each and every day,” said Blackman in a statement.
“Steve’s phenomenal work on The Umbrella Academy helped propel the series’ worldwide fandom,” said Brian Wright, vice president of YA and family original series at Netflix. “He’s deeply creative, passionate and thoughtful, and we’re so excited to have him make a home at Netflix.”
Season 2 of The Umbrella Academy is set to premiere on Netflix later this year.

]]>In life, it is rare for a person to reach celebrity status, let alone icon status. Gerard Way of My Chemical Romance certainly did this when he became one of the most popular alternative bands of a generation. Now though, Way has proven that his talents range beyond music seeing how the adaptation of his comic book series has been watched by more than 45 million members.
It was recently announced that the show has been renewed for a second season. Back in February, Steve Blackman hinted that there could be as many as four or five series on the way.
“I know Gerard has eight volumes in his mind,” he said, “so whether that translates to eight seasons, I don’t know. We combine certain seasons, and bits and pieces. It would be lovely to have four or five years of this show. That would be wonderful.”

]]>Now, GWW have reported that the second season will go into production later this year in Ontario… which is very good news indeed.
Earlier this year, Gerard Way revealed that he has got ideas already for the future of the show.
“What I did for Steve Blackman (the showrunner) and the writers in that first writers’ room was to create an 18-page document that laid everything out,” he told Collider. “Even of the graphic novels that haven’t come out yet. Which should equal eight when we’re all done. So I gave them the blueprint for what happens because you do want to seed certain things in there for future series and the hope is that it’s a success so that you do a lot more of these.
“They’re very curious what Gabriel [Ba, illustrator] and I are doing next. We always send them the new comics. They really want to know what’s happening.”

Speaking with Rolling Stone, Way explained that his inspiration for writing the comics came very much from the feeling that the comic he wanted to read didn’t exist yet. And so he made it.
“The philosophy that I apply to all the art I make is that you should make something that you would want to read or listen to or see, something that you feel doesn’t exist in the specific way you see it in your head, something that can only be told through your lens,” Way explained.
“In comics, I didn’t see anything like The Umbrella Academy,” he continued. “I saw a lot of things that were beholden to continuity that had been going on for 50 years and stories that have continued that long, but I didn’t see anything that threw the reader in the deep end and just got them into the good stuff right away.”
