]]>Directed by Oscar-nominated director Ridley Scott and based on Eric Jager’s book The Last Duel: A True Story of Crime, Scandal, and Trial by Combat in Medieval France, the film follows one of France’s last legally sanctioned duels. Set in 1386, King Charles VI (Affleck) declares a duel between knight Jean de Carrouges (Damon) and his squire Jacques LeGris (Driver) to settle a debt after the knight’s wife (Comer) claims she was sexually assaulted. The two will fight to death and whoever survives is the truth-teller in God’s eyes. If Carrouges loses, his wife will be burned at the stake for false accusations.
Nicole Holofcener, Affleck, and Damon wrote the film, which is based on true events. Scott, Kevin J. Walsh, Jennifer Fox, Holofcener, Damon, and Affleck serve as producers. Kevin Halloran, Drew Vinton, and Madison Ainley are executive producers.
The film will be released on October 15. Watch the trailer below.

Ridley Scott is directing the epic tale set in 14th century France from a screenplay adaptation by Damon and Ben Affleck with Nicole Holofcener.
The film, a story of betrayal and justice, is told from three points of view — two knights (Driver and Damon) whose bond is tested and a young woman (Comer), is forced to navigate the brutal and oppressive culture of the era in order to survive.
Should Disney and Fox green light the period drama, it should begin production in early 2020.
