]]>The final season of The Crown is coming into this year’s BAFTA TV Awards with eight nominations. Despite topping the list of nominees, this series shockingly didn’t make it to the best drama field, losing its spot to The Gold, Happy Valley, Slow Horses, and Top Boy.
That didn’t stop The Crown from dominating the acting categories with four nods for its stars Dominic West, Elizabeth Debecki, Lesley Manville, and Salim Daw. The royal drama is also in the running for four additional craft awards, including best costumes and special effects.
As for Black Mirror, its episode “Demon 79” impressed the BAFTA TV voters and scored a total of seven nods. It’s one of the contenders for the best limited drama series, while its star Anjana Vasan scored a nod for the best leading actress.
The 2024 British Academy Television Awards are coming back to the Royal Festival Hall in London on May 12. BBC One will broadcast the ceremony, and they’re yet to announce this year’s host.

]]>The show’s final season will return to Netflix on November 16, but only four episodes will premiere on that day. Netflix decided to build even more hype for this series by splitting Season 6 into two parts, with the remaining six episodes set to premiere on December 14.
Imelda Staunton returns as Queen Elizabeth in the new teaser, which offers glimpses of her younger days when she was played by Claire Foy and Olivia Colman. The promo poster also gave us a taste of things to come in the new season, showing Queen Elizabeth walking alone in a spotlight and Princess Diana sitting alone on a dock.
In addition to Staunton, Season 6 will also see Jonathan Pryce, Lesley Manville, Elizabeth Debicki, Dominic West, Salim Daw, and Khalid Abdalla return to their roles in the previous season. Newcomers Rufus Kampa, Fflyn Edwards, Ed McVey, Luther Ford, and Meg Bellamy are set to join them, all in their debut roles.

]]>This year’s SAG Awards were quite historic because the four acting awards in the movie categories went to POC for the first time ever. The list of winners included Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom leads Chadwick Boseman and Viola Davis, Daniel Kaluuya (Judas and the Black Messiah), and Youn Yuh-jung (Minari).
Michael Keaton wasn’t in the running for any individual awards this season, but he still managed to make history at the SAG Awards. After picking up the trophy for outstanding performance by a cast in a motion picture with his The Trial of the Chicago 7 co-stars, he became the first actor to win in this category three times. This win improved Chicago 7’s Oscar chances, but it will still have a tough competition in Minari and Nomadland.
The Crown and Schitt’s Creek dominated the television field at this year’s SAG Awards, but it’s safe to say that the triumph of the first show is a much bigger deal. Unlike Schitt’s Creek, Netflix’s royal drama will be in the running at the upcoming Emmys and its SAG victories solidify its status as a major front-runner.

]]>The triumph of Nomadland isn’t all that surprising because it comes only a week after this film topped the list of Golden Globe winners. It came out victorious in four different categories this time around—best picture, best director, best-adapted screenplay, and best cinematography.
Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom followed closely with three wins, including the posthumous best actor award for Chadwick Boseman. Minari, Promising Young Woman, and The Trial of the Chicago 7 were right behind with two awards each.
The Crown repeated its Golden Globe triumph by winning four trophies—best drama and acting awards for Josh O’Connor, Emma Corrin, and Gillian Anderson in their respective categories. Apple TV’s underrated sitcom Ted Lasso was the absolute winner in the comedy field with three awards.
The 26th Critics’ Choice Awards were held on March 7th, with Taye Diggs returning to host for the third time.

]]>Mank is in the running for the best motion picture – drama, but it will have a tough competition in The Father, Nomadland, Promising Young Woman, and The Trial of the Chicago 7. Each of these movies received a total of four nominations, while Borat Subsequent Moviefilm led the comedy categories with three.
When it comes to the television side, The Crown was the expected leader in the field, mostly thanks to the strong performances of its main cast. It received six nominations, while Schitt’s Creek was right behind with a total of five nods. Ozark and The Undoing closely followed with four each.
The 2021 Golden Globe Awards will be held on February 28th. Tina Fey and Amy Poehler will return to host the ceremony for the fourth time in a first ever bicoastal broadcast that will take place in Los Angeles and New York.

]]>In addition to receiving a nomination for the best drama series, The Crown is also in the running in several acting categories, thanks to the amazing performances by Olivia Colman, Tobias Menzies, Emma Corin, Josh O’Connor, and Gillian Anderson.
When it comes to Ozark, this Netflix series is also in the running for six awards, in the same categories as The Crown. It will be competing for the best drama awards, while its stars Jason Bateman, Laura Linney, Julia Garner, Tom Pelphrey, and Janet McTeer received nominations in their respective acting categories.
Lovecraft Country, Mrs. America, Schitt’s Creek, and What We Do in the Shadows were right behind, with five nominations each. We’ll have to wait until March 7th to see who came out victorious since that’s the current date of this awards ceremony.

]]>A statement from the creator and writer of Netflix’s acclaimed drama Peter Morgan confirms that the show will end after five seasons, not six like he originally thought.
In his statement, he also announced who will succeed Claire Foy and Olivia Colman as Queen Elizabeth II.
“I’m absolutely thrilled to confirm Imelda Staunton as Her Majesty The Queen for the fifth and final season, taking The Crown into the 21st Century. Imelda is an astonishing talent and will be a fantastic successor to Claire Foy and Olivia Colman,” Morgan said. “At the outset I had imagined The Crown running for six seasons but now that we have begun work on the stories for season five it has become clear to me that this is the perfect time and place to stop. I’m grateful to Netflix and Sony for supporting me in this decision.”
“I have loved watching The Crown from the very start. As an actor, it was a joy to see how both Claire Foy and Olivia Colman brought something special and unique to Peter Morgan’s scripts. I am genuinely honored to be joining such an exceptional creative team and to be taking The Crown to its conclusion,” Staunton said in a statement.
The Crown’s third and current season covers 1964-1977 with season four to track the 1980s. It has yet to be announced what period the fifth and final season will handle.

]]>Multiple outlets confirm that Morgan has inked a mega-deal with the streaming giant. The deal that includes both film and television projects is valued well into the eight figures. “The figure is beyond insane,” a source told Deadline of the deal.
The Golden Globe and BAFTA-winner is the latest producer who’s inked overall deals with the streamer. Others include Shonda Rhimes, Ryan Murphy, Kenya Barris, Jenji Kohan, Barack and Michelle Obama, among others.
In other recent deals that a streaming giant inked with major talent — Fleabag’s Phoebe Waller-Bridge has signed a three year overall deal with Amazon. It’s reported that the deal is in the mid-eight figure range.

]]>Netflix dropped a teaser trailer for season three of season 3 of its British royal family drama and we finally get to see Colam as the Queen.
The trailer cleverly features the transition of the cast into their older versions, portrayed by a set of new actors by presenting a scene in which the Queen assesses her newest portrait.
“Everyone is delighted with the new profile, ma’am, which they feel to be an elegant reflection of Her Majesty’s transition from young woman to…” one of her advisors says until he’s cut off by the monarch who says, “Old bat?”
“Settled sovereign… just the tiniest changes,” he continues.
“A great many changes. Nothing one can do about it, one just has to get on with it,” she then declares.
Colman took over as Queen Elizabeth II from Claire Foy. Tobias Menzies took over the role of the Duke of Edinburgh from Matt Smith and Helena Bonham Carter took over as Princess Margaret from Vanessa Kirby.
Season 3 of The Crown will launch November 17 on Netflix.

]]>The final season of The Crown is coming into this year’s BAFTA TV Awards with eight nominations. Despite topping the list of nominees, this series shockingly didn’t make it to the best drama field, losing its spot to The Gold, Happy Valley, Slow Horses, and Top Boy.
That didn’t stop The Crown from dominating the acting categories with four nods for its stars Dominic West, Elizabeth Debecki, Lesley Manville, and Salim Daw. The royal drama is also in the running for four additional craft awards, including best costumes and special effects.
As for Black Mirror, its episode “Demon 79” impressed the BAFTA TV voters and scored a total of seven nods. It’s one of the contenders for the best limited drama series, while its star Anjana Vasan scored a nod for the best leading actress.
The 2024 British Academy Television Awards are coming back to the Royal Festival Hall in London on May 12. BBC One will broadcast the ceremony, and they’re yet to announce this year’s host.

]]>The show’s final season will return to Netflix on November 16, but only four episodes will premiere on that day. Netflix decided to build even more hype for this series by splitting Season 6 into two parts, with the remaining six episodes set to premiere on December 14.
Imelda Staunton returns as Queen Elizabeth in the new teaser, which offers glimpses of her younger days when she was played by Claire Foy and Olivia Colman. The promo poster also gave us a taste of things to come in the new season, showing Queen Elizabeth walking alone in a spotlight and Princess Diana sitting alone on a dock.
In addition to Staunton, Season 6 will also see Jonathan Pryce, Lesley Manville, Elizabeth Debicki, Dominic West, Salim Daw, and Khalid Abdalla return to their roles in the previous season. Newcomers Rufus Kampa, Fflyn Edwards, Ed McVey, Luther Ford, and Meg Bellamy are set to join them, all in their debut roles.

]]>This year’s SAG Awards were quite historic because the four acting awards in the movie categories went to POC for the first time ever. The list of winners included Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom leads Chadwick Boseman and Viola Davis, Daniel Kaluuya (Judas and the Black Messiah), and Youn Yuh-jung (Minari).
Michael Keaton wasn’t in the running for any individual awards this season, but he still managed to make history at the SAG Awards. After picking up the trophy for outstanding performance by a cast in a motion picture with his The Trial of the Chicago 7 co-stars, he became the first actor to win in this category three times. This win improved Chicago 7’s Oscar chances, but it will still have a tough competition in Minari and Nomadland.
The Crown and Schitt’s Creek dominated the television field at this year’s SAG Awards, but it’s safe to say that the triumph of the first show is a much bigger deal. Unlike Schitt’s Creek, Netflix’s royal drama will be in the running at the upcoming Emmys and its SAG victories solidify its status as a major front-runner.

]]>The triumph of Nomadland isn’t all that surprising because it comes only a week after this film topped the list of Golden Globe winners. It came out victorious in four different categories this time around—best picture, best director, best-adapted screenplay, and best cinematography.
Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom followed closely with three wins, including the posthumous best actor award for Chadwick Boseman. Minari, Promising Young Woman, and The Trial of the Chicago 7 were right behind with two awards each.
The Crown repeated its Golden Globe triumph by winning four trophies—best drama and acting awards for Josh O’Connor, Emma Corrin, and Gillian Anderson in their respective categories. Apple TV’s underrated sitcom Ted Lasso was the absolute winner in the comedy field with three awards.
The 26th Critics’ Choice Awards were held on March 7th, with Taye Diggs returning to host for the third time.

]]>Mank is in the running for the best motion picture – drama, but it will have a tough competition in The Father, Nomadland, Promising Young Woman, and The Trial of the Chicago 7. Each of these movies received a total of four nominations, while Borat Subsequent Moviefilm led the comedy categories with three.
When it comes to the television side, The Crown was the expected leader in the field, mostly thanks to the strong performances of its main cast. It received six nominations, while Schitt’s Creek was right behind with a total of five nods. Ozark and The Undoing closely followed with four each.
The 2021 Golden Globe Awards will be held on February 28th. Tina Fey and Amy Poehler will return to host the ceremony for the fourth time in a first ever bicoastal broadcast that will take place in Los Angeles and New York.

]]>In addition to receiving a nomination for the best drama series, The Crown is also in the running in several acting categories, thanks to the amazing performances by Olivia Colman, Tobias Menzies, Emma Corin, Josh O’Connor, and Gillian Anderson.
When it comes to Ozark, this Netflix series is also in the running for six awards, in the same categories as The Crown. It will be competing for the best drama awards, while its stars Jason Bateman, Laura Linney, Julia Garner, Tom Pelphrey, and Janet McTeer received nominations in their respective acting categories.
Lovecraft Country, Mrs. America, Schitt’s Creek, and What We Do in the Shadows were right behind, with five nominations each. We’ll have to wait until March 7th to see who came out victorious since that’s the current date of this awards ceremony.

]]>A statement from the creator and writer of Netflix’s acclaimed drama Peter Morgan confirms that the show will end after five seasons, not six like he originally thought.
In his statement, he also announced who will succeed Claire Foy and Olivia Colman as Queen Elizabeth II.
“I’m absolutely thrilled to confirm Imelda Staunton as Her Majesty The Queen for the fifth and final season, taking The Crown into the 21st Century. Imelda is an astonishing talent and will be a fantastic successor to Claire Foy and Olivia Colman,” Morgan said. “At the outset I had imagined The Crown running for six seasons but now that we have begun work on the stories for season five it has become clear to me that this is the perfect time and place to stop. I’m grateful to Netflix and Sony for supporting me in this decision.”
“I have loved watching The Crown from the very start. As an actor, it was a joy to see how both Claire Foy and Olivia Colman brought something special and unique to Peter Morgan’s scripts. I am genuinely honored to be joining such an exceptional creative team and to be taking The Crown to its conclusion,” Staunton said in a statement.
The Crown’s third and current season covers 1964-1977 with season four to track the 1980s. It has yet to be announced what period the fifth and final season will handle.

]]>Multiple outlets confirm that Morgan has inked a mega-deal with the streaming giant. The deal that includes both film and television projects is valued well into the eight figures. “The figure is beyond insane,” a source told Deadline of the deal.
The Golden Globe and BAFTA-winner is the latest producer who’s inked overall deals with the streamer. Others include Shonda Rhimes, Ryan Murphy, Kenya Barris, Jenji Kohan, Barack and Michelle Obama, among others.
In other recent deals that a streaming giant inked with major talent — Fleabag’s Phoebe Waller-Bridge has signed a three year overall deal with Amazon. It’s reported that the deal is in the mid-eight figure range.

]]>Netflix dropped a teaser trailer for season three of season 3 of its British royal family drama and we finally get to see Colam as the Queen.
The trailer cleverly features the transition of the cast into their older versions, portrayed by a set of new actors by presenting a scene in which the Queen assesses her newest portrait.
“Everyone is delighted with the new profile, ma’am, which they feel to be an elegant reflection of Her Majesty’s transition from young woman to…” one of her advisors says until he’s cut off by the monarch who says, “Old bat?”
“Settled sovereign… just the tiniest changes,” he continues.
“A great many changes. Nothing one can do about it, one just has to get on with it,” she then declares.
Colman took over as Queen Elizabeth II from Claire Foy. Tobias Menzies took over the role of the Duke of Edinburgh from Matt Smith and Helena Bonham Carter took over as Princess Margaret from Vanessa Kirby.
Season 3 of The Crown will launch November 17 on Netflix.
