]]>The historical drama Shōgun knocked it out of the park with its first season and scored 25 nominations for FX. It’s the second non-English language series in the running for the outstanding drama series, but The Crown, Fallout, The Gilded Age, The Morning Show, Mr & Mrs Smith, Slow Horses, and 3 Body Problem also managed to make the cut.
The Bear is the top contender on the comedy side, and it made history as the most-nominated comedy series in a single year with 23 nominations. It will try to take its second Emmy for the outstanding comedy series home, but the competition also includes Abbott Elementary, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Hacks, Only Murders in the Building, Palm Royale, Reservation Dogs, and What We Do in Shadow.
As for the limited/anthology series field, True Detective: Night Country emerged as the main contender with 19 nominations. Baby Reindeer, Lessons in Chemistry, Ripley, and Fargo are also in the running for the outstanding limited or anthology series.
The 76th Primetime Emmy Awards winners will be announced from the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, California on September 15.
