Being in very early stages of development, the search for a writer is currently on.

The original was directed by Richard Donner. The sixth installment of the Terminator franchise was initially scheduled to be released July 2019, but it will now make its box office debut on November 22nd 2019, according to an announcement by Paramount.

Many have speculated that the delay must be a result of Arnold Shwarzennegger’s recent open-surgery, but Paramount have insisted this was not the case. They claim the decision to delay the release of Terminator 6 was actually made months ago, although they did not give the actual reason for the delay. Movieweb has guessed the delay is most likely a result of script alterations being made as filming was expected to begin this summer, but it appears filming too has been pushed back.

The movie will be directed by Deadpool’s Tim Miller and will star Black Mirror’s Mackenzie Davis. Shwarzenegger will reunite with costar Linda Hamilton aka Sarah Connor in Terminator 2: Judgment Day (1991).

In 2018, James Cameron revealed that the sixth installment will be a “continuation of the story from Terminator 1 and Terminator 2.” The director even joked that they’re pretending the movies in between were a “bad dream” and that the new movie will be a direct sequel from Terminator 2.
