If the film had received poor ratings, one might be able to begin to fathom why Tarantino may consider it’s time to turn in the hat. As it stands, however, the film is rated 9.6/10 on IMDB and 92% on Rotten Tomatoes. So why does the genius director want to quit?

“I think when it comes to theatrical movies, I’ve come to the end of the road,” the director told Australian GQ. “I see myself writing film books and starting to write theatre, so I’ll still be creative. I just think I’ve given all I have to give to movies.”

Brad Pitt added: “I don’t think he’s bluffing at all. I think he’s dead serious. And I kind of openly lament that to him, but he understands the math of when he feels like directors start falling off their game. But he has other plans and we’re not going to have to say goodbye for a long time.”

Once Upon a Time in Hollywood will be released in cinemas on July 26.

Once Upon a Time in Hollywood is currently scheduled for premiere on July 26, 2019, in the United States, but it is rumored that the movie might get its first screening at the Cannes Film Festival in May. This would coincide with the 25th anniversary of Tarantino’s Palme d’Or win for Pulp Fiction.
