The Crown and The Favourite star has been cast in the lead in HBO and Sky’s forthcoming crime series Landscapers.

The Oscar-winning actress is set to portray convicted killer Susan in the four-part limited series inspired by real events. The role of Christopher Edwards is yet to be cast.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the drama will question how the devoted and mild-mannered couple came to kill Susan’s parents in 1998 and bury them in the back garden of their home in Nottingham, England, in a crime that remained undiscovered for over a decade before their convictions and jailing in 2014.

Alexander Payne will direct from a script by Ed Sinclair, whose TV screenplay is based on hours of interviews with the real-life figures who have always maintained their innocence, per HBO.

“I love Ed’s scripts, which is just as well as he cooks many of my meals. No, the truth is it’s quite rare to be desperate to play a part on the first reading of a script, but that was the case here,” Colman said in a statement.

Colman is currently one season into her gig as Queen Elizabeth II on Netflix’s The Crown.

Olivia Colman is a national treasure of the UK. She gained popularity following her role as Sophie in the cult comedy series Peep Show and since then, she has received her very own Academy Award. Here’s a list of her best roles.

Sophie (Peep Show)

Olivia Colman’s character is introduced as the scatty yet impossibly lovely love interest of Mark. As the series progresses, he wears her down until she eventually winds up as his bitter ex-wife. Colman’s performance has us rooting for Sophie all the way.

Hotel Manager (The Lobster)

Colman appeared in Yorgos Lanthimos’ dark satirical comedy, The Lobster. She plays the strict, unbending manager of the hotel in which the film is based. Her stony-faced performance is both unsettling and funny.

Godmother (Fleabag)

Arguably Colman’s least likable character is her role as Fleabag’s godmother. She is selfish, pretentious, and always pushing Fleabag’s buttons. Even as the stepmother from hell, Colman is still irresistibly lovely with her sweet smile and English charm.

Harriet Schulenberg (Green Wing)

Colman joined the PR team in Green Wing as a chaotic mother of four. She was not the star of the show but her performance is still memorable.

Queen Anne (The Favorite)

Colman’s most impressive role is the role that one her an Academy Award. As Queen Anne, Colman is charming, tragic, and riddled with a multitude of intense emotions. This is her finest performance yet.

Olivia Colman (As Herself)

Best of all, however, is Colman when she is playing herself. When she collected her award at the Oscars, audiences were blown away by her down-to-earth charm and charisma. She reminded us all why Colman is our favorite UK darling.

The first footage of Olivia Colman as Queen Elizabeth II is here.

Netflix dropped a teaser trailer for season three of season 3 of its British royal family drama and we finally get to see Colam as the Queen.

The trailer cleverly features the transition of the cast into their older versions, portrayed by a set of new actors by presenting a scene in which the Queen assesses her newest portrait.

“Everyone is delighted with the new profile, ma’am, which they feel to be an elegant reflection of Her Majesty’s transition from young woman to…” one of her advisors says until he’s cut off by the monarch who says, “Old bat?”

“Settled sovereign… just the tiniest changes,” he continues.

“A great many changes. Nothing one can do about it, one just has to get on with it,” she then declares.

Colman took over as Queen Elizabeth II from Claire Foy. Tobias Menzies took over the role of the Duke of Edinburgh from Matt Smith and Helena Bonham Carter took over as Princess Margaret from Vanessa Kirby.

Season 3 of The Crown will launch November 17 on Netflix.

Looking for a movie that offers tons of royal intrigue, a star-studded cast, and a wacky sense of humor? Yorgos Lanthimos’s got you covered! The trailer for his upcoming period drama The Favourite just dropped and it looks dashing with a hint of madness.

This dark comedy about the absurdity of court life takes place in early 18th century England. Olivia Colman gives a performance of a lifetime as frail Queen Anne. Her most trusted advisor Lady Sara (Rachel Weisz) is the one who has to take care of things as the monarch sinks further and further into madness. Everything changes when new servant Abigail (Emma Stone) comes to court. The two ladies quickly become rivals and end up competing for the Queen’s affection.

The Favourite is a reunion of sorts since both Colman and Weisz previously starred in The Lobster, directed by Lanthimos. He received one Academy Award nomination for this project, and his upcoming period drama could easily replicate this success.

The movie will premiere on November 23rd, in the peak of awards season, so it seems like another Oscar darling. Even if Lanthimos’s take on monarchy isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, it’s clear we can expect three powerhouse performances. Will Rachel Weisz and Emma Stone add another Oscar to their awards shelf? Let’s wait and see!
