]]>Described as “an unlikely romance about two different people searching for something real in a world where value is based on likes and followers”, Marry Me sees Lopez play Kat Valdez, a musical sensation who discovers her fiancé Bastian (Maluma) is cheating on her just moments before they’re supposed to get married in front of a live audience.
Instead of calling off the wedding, she decides to do something completely unexpected—marry a total stranger. She singles out a divorced high-school math teacher Charlie Gilbert (Owen Wilson) from the audience, and her reckless decisions slowly evolve into an unexpected romance as they get to know each other better.
In addition to Lopez, Wilson, and Maluma, Marry Me also stars John Bradley, Sarah Silverman, Chloe Coleman, and Jameela Jamil. It’s set to premiere on February 11th, 2022, just in time for Valentine’s Day. Lopez will follow it up by another wedding-themed romantic comedy—Shotgun Wedding, also starring Josh Duhamel.

]]>This surreal project centers on a pop star getting ready for a very public wedding at the Madison Square Garden, only to find out her fiancé has been cheating on her the whole time. Instead of calling the wedding off, she decides to tie the knot with a random audience member, holding a “Marry Me” sign.
According to the official synopsis, this gimmick eventually turns into an “exploration of relationships, expectations and destiny.” The script is based on the graphic novel by Bobby Crosby, and Kat Coiro will be in charge of bringing it to the big screen.
It’s still too early to say when we can expect this rom-com in the theaters, but it probably won’t start filming before Jennifer Lopez wraps up her latest movie Hustlers, also starring Constance Wu and Cardi B.
