George Clooney and Brad Pitt’s new film Wolfs is yet to see the light of day, but Apple TV+ is betting big on its future. The streaming giant is giving this A-list project a one-week theatrical release, and they’ve already green-lit its sequel.

Wolfs centers on two fixers who prefer working alone, but their latest high-profile case forces them to join forces. The two “lone wolves” must work together covering up a major crime, while their night spirals out of control in ways that neither one of them expected.

In addition to Clooney and Pitt in lead roles, this action comedy will also star Amy Ryan, Austin Abrams, Poorna Jagannathan, Richard Kind, and Zlatko Burić. It hails from writer and director Jon Watts, who recently made a deal with Apple to return for a sequel. He’s also credited as one of the producers alongside Smokehouse Pictures’ Clooney and Grant Heslov and Plan B’s Pitt, Dede Gardner, and Jeremy Kleiner.

Wolfs will have its world premiere in the out-of-competition selection at the Venice International Film Festival. It will get a limited one-week theatrical release on September 20, before heading to Apple TV+ on September 27, after Apple decided to pivot from a wide theatrical release.

The Oscar-winning actor has signed on to direct and star in a feature film adaptation of Good Morning, Midnight for Netflix.

The adaptation of Lily Brooks-Dalton’s sci-fi thriller, which was named one of the best books of 2017 by the Chicago Review of Books, will be penned by Mark L. Smith.

According to Variety, the post-apocalyptic tale follows the parallel stories of Augustine (Clooney), a lonely scientist in the Arctic, and an astronaut on board the Aether spacecraft who is trying to return home to Earth, as Augustine races to make contact with the spaceship.

Clooney is producing the feature with Grant Heslov.

“Grant and I couldn’t be more excited to be involved with this incredible project,” Clooney said in a statement. “Mark is a writer we’ve long admired and his script is haunting. We’re thrilled to be working with our friends at Netflix as well.”

“Having known and worked with George for over two decades, I can’t think of anyone better to bring this amazing story to life,” Scott Stuber, head of Netflix’s film division, added. “The book is powerful and moving, and Mark’s adaptation is beautifully written. At its core, this is a story about human nature, and one that I know our global audiences will fall in love with, just like I did when I read it.”

On the latest episode of My Next Guest Needs No Introduction with David Letterman, George Clooney talked about the time he visited Sudan and had an AK-47 pointed to his chest by a 14-year-old kid who made him get on his knees and tried to steal his truck.

“It’s not because he saw Batman?” Letterman asked, interrupting what sounded like a mildly important story.

“No, if he’d seen Batman, he would have shot me right there,” Clooney replied. “He’d of been like, ‘I know you! You put nipples on the batsuit!’ … ‘Get me the director, I’m going to shoot him, too!’”

The Batman and Robin movie released in 1997, which starred Clooney, was an epic failure and scores a paltry 10% according to Rotten Tomatoes.directed by Joel Schumacher, Clooney even apologized for the jokey, family friendly mess of a movie.
