Frozen 2 passed the $1 billion mark at the global box office, grossing $366.5 million domestically and $666 million internationally. It also joins the original 2013 film that grossed $1.28 billion at the global box office. 

But after three weeks at the top (the film hit theaters on the weekend before Thanksgiving) is vacated the No. 1 domestic box office spot to Jumanji: The Next Level, with an impressive $60.1 million last weekend. 

The other 2019 films in the billion-dollar club are Avengers: Endgame, The Lion King, Spider-Man: Far From Home, Captain Marvel, Toy Story 4, Joker, and Aladdin.

First off, you can expect a lot more action in this movie. The first scene takes us back to a battle fought 34 years ago, with consequences that have spilt into the lives of the sisters. Only Elsa (Idina Menzel) can hear an ominous voice and the only way to find its truths is to find its source. And whilst Elsa, the Snow Queen, is becoming more and more emersed in her ice magic, her sister Anna (Kirsten Bell) continues to worry she will no longer be able to keep a warm spot in her heart.

The movie’s action-packed drama and complex storyline is made even more magical by the excellent music score. If you thought “Let it Go” was a great tune, you will love the whole soundtrack for this movie. Seriously, we’ll still be singing along in six years when Frozen 3 may or may not finally come about.

As Elsa battles with her quest, the whole kingdom is at stake. No longer does Elsa worry that her powers are too strong, her biggest concern is that they will not be enough. Luckily, she is helped on her journey by Anna, Kristoff, Sven, and an old favorite Olaf. Olaf, the adorable snowman once again warms the audiences’ hearts. Look out for Olaf’s one-minute comedy sketch that recaps the events that have happened so far. It’s definitely a highlight.

But is the sequel as satisfying as the original? There have been mixed reviews, largely because the plot is a little difficult to follow. Nonetheless, the animation is so gripping and well-designed, that it’s hard to take any criticism of the charming feature seriously. Expect to be caught up in a whirlwind of effects and stunning visuals. Sit back and enjoy and the characters take on new adventures and try to save themselves as well as their kingdom.

The sequel to the hit Disney film is already a proven hit all on its own opening to a whopping $127 million domestic debut.

The animated adventure feature, which is playing in 4,440 theaters, has set a November record for an animated movie and is officially the third-best start for an animated film behind Incredibles 2 ($182 million) and Finding Dory ($135 million) per Variety.

Frozen 2 also did well its opening weekend overseas to the tune of $223 million, making its global haul $350 million — the largest global animated debut in history. 

The film hails from co-directors Jennifer Lee and Chris Buck. Princess Elsa is voiced by Idina Menzel, Anna by Kristen Bell, Kristoff by Jonathan Gross, and Olaf by Josh Gad.

Disney dropped a gorgeous new trailer the forthcoming animated sequel. This is the third trailer, with no.1 and no. 2 having dropped back in February and then in June respectively. 

The clip shows more of Anna (Kristen Bell) and Elsa’s (Idina Menzel) quest into the past, but their journey is not without risk as the enchanted forest that existed as far north as the people of Arendelle could go, is now calling out to Elsa. The two sisters go north to find some answers, much thanks to Elsa’s powers. But, her magic is so alluring, she could risk losing herself. 

Jonathan Groff (Kristoff) and Josh Gad (Olaf) also star in the sequel. 

Frozen 2 will arrive in theaters on November 22.

With Frozen 2 set for release in November, the first trailer for the sequel has now been released!

The clip hints at the quest Elsa, Anna, Kristoff, and Olaf will be embarking on, which will take them north, across the enchanted lands, to discover the reason behind Elsa’s powers.

“Why was Elsa born with magical powers? The answer is calling her and threatening her kingdom,” reads the official description from Disney.

In addition to Idina Menzel, Kristen Bell, Jonathan Groff, and Josh Gad who will all be reprising their roles, Evan Rachel Wood and Sterling K. Brown are joining the cast.

Frozen 2 — and all the awesome new songs we can look forward to — will be released on November 22nd.
