]]>Shōgun managed to beat tough competition in The Crown, Fallout, The Gilded Age, The Morning Show, Mr. & Mrs. Smith, Slow Horses, and 3 Body Problem to win the award for outstanding drama series. This was one of its four major awards, but it also won 14 more trophies at the Creative Arts Emmy Awards for a total of 18, the most wins by any show in a single year.
It was also a historic night for The Bear, which won four major awards for a total of 11, the most by a comedy show in a single year. Despite its domination in the comedy field, the FX culinary dramedy failed to win the trophy for the outstanding comedy series, which went to HBO’s Hacks.
The race in the limited/anthology series field was much easier to call, and Baby Reindeer led the way in most major categories, including outstanding limited or anthology series, plus acting awards for its stars Richard Gadd and Jessica Gunning.
The 2024 Primetime Emmy Awards were held at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles on September 15, with Eugene and Dan Levy making their hosting debut.
