]]>Although Cameron was careful to choose words that were not blatant criticism, the director has confessed that he finds the way the Atlanteans move underwater in Aquaman to be unrealistic. This is perhaps unsurprising considering that for the Avatar sequel, Cameron has taken his entire cast underwater to film to ensure the end product is entirely authentic.
Given that Aquaman and the Avatar sequels both took their story underwater, Yahoo asked the director what he thought of the DC hit.
“I think it’s great fun,” Cameron responded. “I think it’s a movie I could have never made. Truthfully. I could have never made that film because it requires this total dreamlike disconnect from any sense of physics or reality. It exists somewhere between a Greek mythic landscape and a fairy tale landscape. And people just kind of zoom around underwater because… they propel themselves mentally? I guess? I don’t know.”
“But it’s cool. You buy it on its own terms. But I’ve spent thousands of hours underwater. I’m very literal about my underwater. It needs to look like it’s real. And while I can enjoy that film I don’t resonate with it because it doesn’t look real.”
Avatar 2 will be released December 18, 2020.

]]>The post Aquaman Spinoff Movie “The Trench” in the Works appeared first on Entertainment For Us.
]]>According to The Hollywood Reporter, Warner Bros. is working on a spinoff movie focusing on underwater kingdom The Trench from the original film. Reportedly, Noah Gardner and Aidan Fitzgerald will take on the task of writing the script for the feature that will feel more like a horror movie than a superhero flick.
Titled The Trench, the movie will have a lot smaller budget than the rest of DC movies and will not feature any of the Aquaman’s main cast. It will, however, be produced by Aquaman director James Wan and producer Peter Safran.
The Trench are the new addition to the DC World, being first introduced in the comics in 2011. Once the inhabitant of Atlantis, they survived the continent’s submergence in the water but ended up being stranded in the Marianas Trench. The Trench developed various powers over the years while turning into dangerous monsters.

]]>Next, we see a young Arthur being bullied on a school trip to the aquarium. A shark senses his distress and headbutts the glass, and then the rest of the creatures in the tank gather behind Arthur in his defense. It’s corny but pleasing and gives us a sense of the underwater adventure to come.
Unfortunately, Aquaman quite rapidly goes downhill from there. The introduction of Black Manta was abrupt and jarring, and we would like to have seen more of Aquaman’s childhood other than the one short clip in the aquarium. Yes, there are a few more clips of young Arthur later in the movie, but they seem to interrupt the plot more than add to it.
The overarching storyline of Aquaman searching for the trident to save the human race was acceptable, but as far as origin stories go, it was not very original at all. That said, there were some enjoyable action sequences during his journey to find the trident, and the underwater settings of
Atlantis were imaginative and visually exciting.
Still, in an age where cinema is oversaturated by superhero movies, Aquaman just doesn’t make the cut. Ten years ago, we would probably have given it a five-star review for inventiveness alone, but watching in 2019, the underwater feature doesn’t feel like anything we haven’t seen before.
To end the review on a high note, I will say that Jason Mamoa did a superb job once more in his role of the comic relief member of the Justice League. In his character he is fierce, charming and exceptionally cool. It’s just a shame he didn’t get a movie to match.
2/5: DC might as well leave the action to Marvel.

]]>The post “Aquaman” Director James Wan Talks About Why Trailer is Not Out Yet appeared first on Entertainment For Us.
]]>The film is set to be released next December and has generated positive responses from those who have had the opportunity to watch the early screenings.
Despite rumors that a trailer was set to be released last weekend, nothing has yet been released to the public.
Wan, who has previously worked on movies such as Saw, Insidious, The Conjuring and Furious 7 took to Twitter to address rumors pertaining to the movie’s release.
Wan assured fans that all is well, he is just a perfectionist and wishes to ensure that everything is flawless before it is released.
“Hey friends, I usually do my best to avoid internet noises (especially fabricated distractions) but a teaser-trailer going out this weekend was never in the books — despite what some claim. It’s not because of anyone or any nefarious reason holding it back — IT’S ME,” he said. “I am simply not ready yet to share. This movie is filled to the gills with VFX, and the process is as slow and laborious as a sea-slug! Yes, even shots for the trailers take forever to do, and I refuse to put out anything that might be construed as subpar.”
He concluded, “I know it seems like nothing much is brewing above the surface, but I can assure you, we’re working nonstop under the waves. (Ps: And yes, I plan to use oceanic puns/references every chance I get).”
