Based on the book Shrill: Notes from a Loud Woman by West, Shrill follows Annie (Bryant), a fat young woman who wants to change her life — but not her body.
In season 1, Annie tried to start her career in journalism while juggling bad boyfriends, a sick parent, and a perfectionist boss. After facing her demons, Annie started season 2 feeling pretty good with her boyfriend Ryan (Luka Jones) by her side. Shrill also stars Lolly Adefope, Luka Jones, John Cameron Mitchell, Ian Owens, and Patti Harrison.
