The Hollywood Reporter exclusively reported that a sequel to Murder Mystery is in development at Netflix. 

Starring as the crime-solving couple in the original film were Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston. According to the outlet, the goal is to have the two reprise their roles for the sequel, however, nothing has been announced as of yet. 

Murder Mystery follows Nick (Sandler) and Audrey (Aniston) Spitz, a married couple that lost their spark, but then they become embroiled in a murder plot while on vacation. 

The film was directed by Kyle Newacheck from a script by James Vanderbilt. It debuted on the streaming giant on June 14, 2019.

Sandler plays a middle-class father who is determined to pay for his daughters wedding, despite the insistence of the wealthier groom’s father, a surgeon played by Chris Rock, to pay for the wedding himself.

In the trailer, Sandler says: “every father looks forward to making a wedding for their little girl.” However due to limited finances, he has to also focus on saving money. When there is a leak in his cheap hotel, Sandler decides to host the wedding party in his crowded house rather than allow Rock to use his cash to save the day.

This will be Sandler’s fourth movie for Netflix after The Ridiculous Six, The Do-Over and Sandy Wexler. Sandler used to be a major draw card in the comedy business during the late 90’s and early 2000’s though his popularity has declined during recent years.
