Stranger Things is probably one of the most popular TV shows today. This Netflix science fiction-horror hit impressed both the critics and the audience with its atmosphere, plot, interesting characters, talented cast members, and 1980s pop culture.

Season 2 of Stranger Things has wrapped up and we will have to wait, probably, until 2019 for the next one. Until then, we decided to reveal some things you probably didn’t know about the show:

1. Creators of the show, The Duffer Brothers (Matt and Russ Duffer), revealed that almost everyone hated their initial pitch of the show and that they have been declined by 15 to 20 networks until Netflix stepped in.

2. In order to sell the show, the brothers made a fake trailer by combining clips from more than 25 movies, including E.T., Nightmare on Elm Street, and Halloween.

3. Playing Barb on Stranger Things was the first acting experience for Shannon Purser.

4. The show was initially called Montauk and was set in the real city of Montauk in New Jersey.

5. Stranger Things was supposed to be a miniseries with, which would end with the death of Eleven.

6. The Duffer Brothers knew Millie Bobby Brown was perfect for the role of Eleven from the moment they saw her. The problem was that Millie wasn’t keen on shaving her head for the role. She only agreed after the brothers showed her pictures of Charlize Theron as Furiosa in Mad Max: Fury Road.

7. 906 boys and 307 girls auditioned before the creators chose the actors who would play the lead roles.

8. The look of Demogorgon, the monster from the show, was inspired by monsters from Pan’s Labyrinth and Xenomorph from Alien.

9. Steve’s Character was initially written as a villain. After actor Joe Keery came to audition, The Duffers thought he was so charming that they made the character into a hero.

10. David Harbour wanted his character, Jim Hopper, to wear a hat as an homage to Indiana Jones.
